AeroMexico, Our Flight Experience​ 2020


AeroMexico, what can I say, I was shocked when I read all these UN-good reviews about the company after buying a holiday package. AeroMexico was the airline that flew us to and from Mexico.

The rating on Trustpilot 1.9, TripAdvisor is slightly higher 3.5. The company’s reviews are mostly composed of comments about very rude flight attendants, terrible service on board, lost luggage, stolen items from your luggage, etc. Frankly, it was quite difficult to find a comment from a satisfied customer.

We didn’t want to spend any more money and re-book Our flight from another company, so we tried.

A return flight from London Heathrow to Cancun with a stopover in Mexico City.

After reading all these negative reviews, we decided to prepare for the flight. We had economy class tickets with 2 pieces of carry-on up to 10 kg and checked baggage up to 23 kg. The amount of baggage allowed seemed reasonable for the company with an average assessment of about 2.7 *.

We shared all our possessions and carried on board all the valuables and some items of clothing in hand luggage. We also packed the luggage at the airport and hoped that our stuff would arrive at Cancun.

We got on the plane and the first impression was very good. A new, modern plane, neat-looking, a smiling flight attendant welcomes you on board.

To be honest, what’s going on, I didn’t prepare for it.

I got on the runway and was ready to take off when the pilot announced that we had broken a weather radar and had to return to the gates to let the engineers look. Well, I’m safer than ashamed.

We were just over an hour late, so we only had 50 minutes for the connecting flight.

They started serving food and here it is absolutely a great service. We had the choice between chicken or pasta for dinner and juice, cola, water or wine for a drink. The food was served twice during the flight.

Upon arriving in Mexico City, the company’s staff waited for us and helped all passengers on the connecting flights in their own way, obviously screaming aloud – Cancun, Cancun, in this way to Cancun.

The second flight was great, too. The plane was pretty old, I don’t think I’ve ever flown one of those old planes, but they still served a few rows and free drinks, which is great. We were happy to see our luggage safe and sound in Cancun.

On the way back the flight from Cancun to Mexico City was fine and the plane was new this time. In Mexico City, however, we discovered that our flight to London was five and a half hours late. At the information desk we got vouchers for a free meal, we had a late dinner and we just waited for the flight.

In summary, we were not satisfied with all the delays, of course, but we did not see or experience anything bad on our 4 flights with the company. The service was good, the chairs were comfortable, we had plenty of leg space, friendly staff, the flight experience was good, internet was available on board at a price, but anyone could use WhatsApp or Messenger for free texting.

We assess the overall experience 4.5 * at 5. Let’s take 0.5 for delays.

Maybe we’ve just been lucky and we haven’t met all these rude stewardesses, but in the end everyone is different with different expectations.
